PC Motherboard And Hard Drive Hassles:

PC hard drive failures can and often do occur without warning. Sometimes however you may be given some warning and if so it is best to heed these warnings and take the appropriate steps to save your data from complete loss where possible. The aptly named blue screen of death is a good indicator that something is wrong. If you see this and your machine reboots then there is a definite problem and switching the PC off is your best bet. Clicking or grinding noises are often also a sure fire indicator that something isn’t right although many people would rather consider this noise to be an ill functioning heat sink and carry on regardless. More often than not if your heat sink is malfunctioning the computer’s CPU will overheat and the machine will switch off as the temperature within the BIOS is set to a specific maximum. Even before your hard drive’s failure you will notice a lower level of performance; one common symptom is the cursor on the screen stalling and then suddenly jumping from one place to another. If you are aware or become aware of any of these symptoms contact us immediately in order to increase the chances of securing your data

PC Hard Drive Actuator Disengaged:

The actuator arm is part of the intricate hardware that when put together makes your hard drive work. The arm passes very quickly over the platters of the hard drive – something in the region of fifty times a second – to allow for the saving and reading of data and should this device fail then you will be unable to save or read any data on your hard drive. One clearly recognised sign that the actuator has given out is a loud click that signifies that is simply banging against the platters as opposed to passing over them. Shut down the machine immediately to reduce the degradation of the platter’s glass surface and contact us for help and advice

PC Hard Drive IDE, ATA And/Or SATA Cable Failing:

The information you save to your hard drive does not simply arrive there once you press save but passes through a series of paths and routes on the motherboard before passing through cables that are connected to both the motherboard and the hard drive. These can be ATA, IDE or SATA cables and these are prone to problems of their own. They may kink especially if you have been installing additional hardware within the PC or may simply fail to work if the firmware embedded in the hard drive becomes corrupted. Changing the cables may cure the problem but if the cable is non-functioning because of issues with firmware then you should contact us here at www.bracknelldatarecovery.co.uk

PC Motherboard & Hard Drive Firmware Expired:

Your motherboard and your hard drive both have onboard firmware that tells them what to do and more importantly tells them how to react and operate in conjunction with other components. If this small but vital program becomes corrupt or out of date you may well find that you are unable to write to or read from your hard drive. If possible visiting the hard drive’s manufacturer’s website for a possible update to the firmware but be cautious as sometimes a firmware update can cause further problems but not recognising older components attached to your hard drive

PC Hard Drive No Longer Functions After Reinstall Of Operating System:

There are times when the reinstallation or a new installation of your operating system is necessary. You may simply want to upgrade to the latest version but there can be problems inherent with this practice. You may find that in upgrading your operating system your hard drive does not function to its fullest potential. If this is the case then the hard drive itself may be prone to errors that the operating system has not picked up on such as bad sectors. During the installation of a new operating system a new boot sector is created however if the disk is faulty then there is a chance the new boot sector may be created on top of bad or unreadable sectors making boot up difficult later on
